In the early 70s, there were two section houses just east of the site of the snowsheds, tt, and depot. One of them still had the D&RGW Royal Gorge/Moffat Tunnel herald painted on the side. In the summer of 73 or 74, someone came with a saw and actually cut the part with the hearalds out of the wall. Do not know when they were dismantled.
An interesting bit of trivia, in 1944, while he was home on vacation, famous correspondant Ernie Pyle rode a D&RGW freight train from Salida to Gunnison. It was reported in the D&RGW's Greenlight Employee's magazine. That same issue reported the abandonment of the D&RGW's Ibex branch out of Leadville, making Marshall Pass the highest point on the D&RGW.
