If memory serves, 483 has some firebox and boiler issues, along with a bent up tender frame from a wreck in 1958 just east of Durango. Now, at the time of the wreck, why the D&RGW didn't retire 483 and rebuild 482 or 489 is a mystery to me. At this point, 483 has become a parts donor to keep her sisters running. Some of the robbed parts could potentially be robbed from 492 or 494 for use on 483, but that jeopardizes the future operation of those locos, particularly 492.
