GPS system help?

Well, rather than try my luck on the general internet, I was wondering if any of you guys have advice on GPS systems? Is there anything out there worth buying (without having to invest a fortune in software) for roughly $100 or less? Most of the ones I see are several hundred, but there are some cheaper ones, but I don't know if any of them are really any good.
