Re: C&S line from Blackhawk to Central City

There are portions left.
From Central City part of the trackwork still exists under the large tailings pile being used as a parking lot. The Right-of-way goes by the former CC ticket office and brick Section House and curves around the side of the hill. The parking lot of the local paper, which has remodeled the two former CC buildings into one, is the former yard of the CCNG and site of a siding for the Hawley Merchandise Co. Warehouse. THe R-O-W curves around the hillside and you can see portions of the former spurs for the Sauer-McShane Mercantile and the Central City Mine. Despite the amount of rock moved for the former Harvey's Casino the grade is pretty well intact all the way to Packard Gulch.
From Packard Gulch the trestle is missing across the gulch to the right of way on the other side. There is much left on the way to where the Parking lots for the Black Hawk casinos have pierced the grade. From Colo 119 you can see the tail of the upper switchback.
From the upper switch on, there are small bits and pieces left into Black Hawk Proper but the majority of the lower switch back is missing. The old main line is totally obliterated from Upper Black Hawk down into the lower end of town and bits and pieces can be found on the way down to Forks Creek.
Hope this helps.
