I've got what I know of the story in my locomotive timeline (see below). Basically, Otto Mears purchased it for his Silverton RR in April 1890, and moved it to the RGS (in trade) in April 1892, and loaned it back to the SRR in November 1892 for a month. It was sold in July of 1899.
My understanding is that Otto wanted to use it on the steep Enterprise branch outside of Rico, which was 5%. It was called a 'sidewinder' by RGS employees, and from what I gather it wasn't too successful. I think it was used in a little in work trains while the south end of the RGS was being completed in 1892, but I don't remember where I saw that.
