From all of my research with folks who worked and lived on or around the Uintah it was prnounced "U-in-tah", heavilly on the U. I belive that the confussion as to the pronunciation come from the the fact the Uintah name came from the Uintah word from the Ute indian language, pronounced like your last version "UNI-tah". This pronunciation is still used today in conjunction with other geographic and social names, but the folks who lived at Mack, Atchee, and Dragon always pronounced it "U-in-tah".
