Re: Santa Fe Turntable Pit?

October 28, 2000 08:32AM
Even though it is gone, I'd like to remind everyone that the turntable pit in Santa Fe had nothing to do with the D&RG(W). It was a standard gauge turntable erected by the Santa Fe Central (later New Mexico Central) and used to turn the standard gauge locos and railcars of that road.
See Colorado Annual No. 24, Journeys Through Western Rail History for my illustrated account of the SFC/NMC entitled "Short Line Through a Lonely Land: The New Mexico Central."
Yours for more accuracy in western rail history.
