Yes, it was standard practice here to exchange parts between locomotives at overhaul times. This often allowed one engine to leave the workshops early with pieces that were 'borrowed' from another that was undergoing more extensive and time consuming repairs. It could involve anything from regulator handles to tenders.
Once a locomotive had been overhauled a few times there was no guarantee that anything on it was original except for the builder's and number plates.
