I observed a couple of things from the two posts, Feb. 25 and 26, and I pose these two questions. First, I notice that 488, the road engine for the two Cumbres turns on Feb. 25, brings the caboose back to Chama from Cumbres. Why wouldn't the caboose stay coupled to the helper, 483, travel around the wye at Cumbres, travel around the wye at Chama and then it would be set up for the second turn without any additional switching?
Second, it appears that on Feb. 26, 483 and 488 lift the final segment of the previous day's train to Cumbres and then both, helper engine 488 and 483 with train proceed to Alamosa. 481 and train arrives in Chama at 8:00 PM. So there was a meet out on the line between eastbound 483 and westbound 481 and presumably this was at Toltec siding because it was the longest siding between Antonito and Chama. Would the eastbound helper, 488, most likely meet the westbound 481 at Sublette or Big Horn?
