Connecticut Antique Machinery Association will have an open house on Saturday April 30th and will have all boilers fired up and running. This includes Hawaii RR #5 Baldwin 58686 1925, 2-4-2 operating over much of its line on the ground at Kent Furnace, CT, one mile north of Kent, CT. This is on the west edge of the state, 30 mins south of Canaan, where the depot was half burned.
No train rides are offered, just free viewing and listening of the steamer in operation. Contributions are welcome, but the grounds are free for this open house to the public. Other narrow gauge cars will be on display for inspection
Next steam-up will be Wednesday, July 20th, 2005 when the grounds will be the meeting point for a steam auto car reunion. Railfans are welcome but encouraged to not disrupt the steam car reunion, as it is their day for their show. Again, no train rides are expected at that time, only viewing of the Hawaii RR #5 in service.
Our major show for the year is September 25th and 26th when our Plymouth is expected back in service to carry riding folks and kids. No promise yet for the Baldwin steamer hauling passenger, but we are working on getting our D&RGW gondolas ready for service.
