The late Ray Hilner told me years back that the Stone Garage moved to the Como Roundhouse after the railway was abandoned. He used to visit in the late 40s and picked up all kinds of paperwork still littering the floor. Ray worked for the Topeka Railway, and as such, could obtain a pass to ride other lines. He went to Denver in 1928 but didn't ride the NG... said it didn't occur to him to request a trip to Como until after the NG was abandoned. The late Don Rogers told me almost the same story - he requested a pass/trip to Leadville but the Rio Grande said "No" we go there. Don said it never occured to him until it was too late to request a trip to Como.
