"first of all, take the chip off your shoulder."
so stop with the "trust me" BS, we're talking about trains, not whether or not you are a trustworthy person.
Besides I've got no 'chip on my shoulder' I could care less about ego BS, I'm here for the trains.
"okay so your pirticular train carries 400,000 people. Good for you."
No, good for the Railway, I get no personal gain from the numbers of riders. It's not MY train.
"If I am
not mistaken the bulk of them come off Cruise ships and ride the WP&Y as part
of a tour package,"
Again, you ARE mistaken, the train ride IS NOT part of the tour package, they pay extra for the train ride, and don't get any price break compared with anyone else riding the train.
"so they dont really care what it is that pulls them since
they paid for a cruise and the train ride is an add on."
They don't care what pulls the train because they paid extra for a train ride, not a steam or diesel train ride. If they were only interested in the scenery then there are a variety of cheaper bus tours to drive up the highway to the summit.
"What I am talking about are the people that get in their cars and drive to the
railroad of your choise specifically to ride it . If they expect to pay to
ride behind steam and don't "get what they paid for" they bitch ,whine and
generally dont want to come back."
Anyone driving to the WP&YR has the option of a once-a-week steam train ride. If they bitch then it's because they didn't do their homework. Some prefer the steam train ride, like I do, and the informed tourist has that option.
"That is what I am talking about. The Loop
*was* an all stem operation, now they have 1 maybe 2 steamers that cant do
what the old Loop did and Railstars "essence of Steam" mentality is going to
come back and bite them in the ass."
Oh, you're beating the Loop dead horse, well in that case maybe what you are saying is true, I wouldn't know, or care.
I wish whoever is operating the Georgetown Loop all the succcess in the world, regardless of what they use to pull the trains. The success of one tourist railroad helps the success of all. Bad news travels further and faster than good news, and those people who persist with badmouthing Railstar or whomever are doing a disservice to the rail tourist industry as a whole.
Stop with the negativity already, you've made your point, nobody cares anymore.
