The coal bunker held 4 1/2 tons. A K36 tender has a 9 1/2 ton coal capacity.
The ET&WNC seriously considered purchasing similar locomotives from Baldwin in 1926 while the D&RGW was working on designs for both simple and compound articulateds before going with the K37 class rebuilds of standard gauge consolidations in 1928 and 1930.
When the Uintah was abandoned in 1939, both 50 and 51 were considered for puchase by the D&RGW as well as the C&S before they were sold to Sumpter Valley.
