Some Rhatian Railways basics first. All lines except for the Bernina Pass line use 11000V 16 2/3Hz AC , the Bernina Line uses 1200V DC. There are several modern rotarys some of them plain diesel, some of the (used on the Bernina line) are also dual mode, ie can operate from the 1200V catenary or their diesel engine.
The "dual" mode engines are basically 1200V DC electric locos (they have about 1500hp) that have a matching diesel-generator set so they can be (an are) used all over the network. In the winter they're often used to push the rotaries, in the summer they're used mostly on the Bernina line, sometimes m.u.'d with the electric railcars. There are only 2 of these dual mode engines, in rare cases the steam rotary has beend pushed by one of the remaining 2 2-8-0 steamers.(about the size of a C-16).
The Bernina Line has steep grades, so all the locos and railcars used there also have magnetic track brakes.
Hope this helps
