These cars went to the White Pass & Yukon in the 1940's as boxcars. The White Pass eventually converted them to flatcars, basically pitching the boxcar body and using the original steel underframes.
In 1987 or so they were purchsed by Daniel Quiat and moved from Alaska to Colorado. One or both of them received a new body and were used as passenger cars on the late 1980's incarnation of the Colorado Central in Central City that ran C&S 71. One of these passenger bodys is still alongside Uhrich Locomotive works in Strasburg, Colorado.
In the mid 1990's, Mr. Quiat had Uhrich build new boxcar bodies for the cars. One of them spent the summer of 1996 on the Georgetown Loop and was used in some photo freights and special runs. Following that, the cars were moved to Breckenridge and a couple of years ago one of them was sold to the US Forest Service and moved to the top of Boreas Pass.
