Narrow Gauge In Rockies

February 14, 2005 10:06AM
Just received this book after buying it online. In the front cover was an old copy of Sunday Empire, The Magazine Of The Denver Post dated November 20, 1966. On the cover (in color) is a picture of 346. The story in the magazine is called Where Memories Of Steam Are Stored.
It is a really neat article about the formation of the museum at Golden. Pictures of Bob Richardson and several of the early day museum.
In the “off” season it was 60 cents for adults and 20 cents for children under 16. A whole family could get in for $1.45!
Just out of curiosity, how much is a ton of coal now? In 1966 it was $16.95 a ton and they were talking about it being so expensive.
