coffin feedwater pump

February 13, 2005 04:47PM
Guys,
Take a look at this:
It's a coffin feedwater pump. I saw it on Maine Central 4-6-2 #470 ( AlCo., 1924 ) which is on display in Waterville, ME. The pump doesn't appear to have cylinders or pistons. Am I correct in making the assumption that this is therefore a turbine driven centrifugal pump ? Anyone know how one of these pumps worked ?
