That was April, 1952. A 2-day average in Chama saw 3 doubleheaded westbounds to Durango, 4 westbounds from Alamosa (with helpers running ahead off the hill), 6-7 3-engine hill turns, 3-4 of which ran through to Alamosa, 3 doubleheaded eastbounds from Durango.
The hostlers to REAL busy.
