My mom alwasy said it was the Angels of your long gone Grandfathers and Grand uncles who were railroaders that pulled you out of that cab before you got hurt.. I think the tender being full of water helped hold the Locomotive from completely going over, but I think what saved us was, the plow seemed to have plowed a trench in the ground as it went over.. and I think the Locomotive sat in that groove of sorts and stopped there, now as far as freezing I am sure some things froze, but I remember long after as we were walking away.. I heard what i think was the Blowdown Valve on the Firemans blow off.. emptying the Boiler of all its water.. It was a loud sound and scared the heck out of me.. by the next morning, 484 had actually sank into the ground quite a bit more as the water poured out of the boiler right under it.. when the Blowdown valve came off..
