There are several extensions in the planning stages.
1) Next season the end of track in Sumpter will be extended past the new depot enabling the train to load/unload at the depot platform. This will be ~ 100 yds past current end of track. Grading is complete. This will be done by volunteers/members. Plans are to keep the Depot/Gift Shop open 7 days a week.
2) Beyond the depot the tracks will extend around and through the Dredge Depot State Park creating a loop, rejoining the main line at the spring switch now in South Sumpter. SVR is seeking funding for this extension. There will be two bridges crossing Cracker Creek on this loop.
3) Starting at McEwen end of track, the line will be extended ~4.5 miles to Union Creek Campground. There will be a depot at the campground adjacent to hwy 7. The track will loop within the park, passing by the depot for loading/unloading, for the return to McEwen and Sumpter. Currently seeking funding for this project. Engineering feasibility study is complete and plans have been drawn up.
4) Within the McEwen yard limits ladder tracks are currently being built. There are two tracks into the shop now, with two more to be added later. Being done by volunteers/members. Mostly Jerry and Scott with help from others.
