William must be someone who has never been to Colorado to ride any of the tourist lines. If you ride the D&S, you will find rider gons, if you ride the C&TS, you will find rider gons, if you rode the previous train at the Gerogetown loop, you also rode in rider gons. All of these have openings in the end to enter the car from.
Using former DB gons is a very smart idea. Replacing the bottom doors with a new solid floor gives a car with a partial metal underframe with metal end beams.
