Back in the 80's when we moved #74, we used a large crane, not to lift, but to winch the engine onto a three axle single drop lowboy. We did lift the coach, caboose, and tender onto flatbeds.
Bob Richardson warned us about lifting engines and how easily damage could be caused. He cited #223 as a worst case example at that time.
