I felt the same way about the book, but am glad I bought it anyway. The info about the author does say he is working on a follow-on book covering the nuts and bolts of the various cars.
In the meantime, here are a few other sources of published information that will help with model building:
D&RGW Passenger Car Plan Set (The Chili Train, The San Juan) - 1/4 scale drawings by Al Kamm Jr., Published by Coronado Scale Models on 11 x 17 inch paper
Slim Gauge Cars (has many NG car plans published in RMC over the years, including the Al Kamm Jr drawings) Carstens Publications, Inc.
Rio Grande Narrow Gauge Car Diagrams published by Rail Head Publications. These appears to be copies or tracings of RR folio sheets. Passenger car line diagrams do show interior floor plan.
Narrow Gauge Pictorial Vol II - Passenger Cars of the D&RGW, Robert Grandt Editor/R Robb Limited.
Denver & Rio Grande Western Narrow Gauge Plans Edited by Donald Heimberger. These are copies of RR folio sheets, but include more text information on the sheets does the car diagrams book noted above. Published by the S Gaugian.
Hope this helps bridge the gap until Mr. Danneman's next book is out!
