Hello,
The railroad depot at Laupahoehoe and its concrete platform survived and have been turned into a nice small museum with three peices of railroad equipment and a short remnant of track. I visited the museum in June 2002. The north road is at times appeared to be on the old railroad driving west from Hilo. Teh railraod roundhouse was also said to still exist, but I was not able to detour the family to look for it. There were many wall full of photos and displays of the railroad in the depot museum. Here is a link to site with good photos of the museum and some of the equipment. One mainland standard gauge caboose is also on the museum property, but not in these photos.
I have included a link below.
Sincerely,
Andy
