John,
I have been checking Rob Dickerson´s website, International Working Steam Locomotives and have been interested in Kenya operation. It seems that they have two meter gauge steamers operating. One Garrett and another 4-8-2. A third loco, a 2-8-2 is now been moved into the restoration shop.
Only one big draw back to this operation! It seems that they have a great steam fleet started, but no one comes for the trips. They seem to be having a hard time getting trips to fill up and having to cancel when they don´t meet the minimum.
I hope that they can get a better promoter or tour operator to fill some of the trains. Also, I think the Government is trying to privatize the East African Railway Co. This is also a new development. Rob´s reports from Kenya also show that traffic is up on the line. Lots of heavy diesel powered trains to Ugandan border.
