Nice link to the satellite photo, Fred. I had to refer to the topo map to find the actual grade, then back to the picture to see the remnants.
I visited that site about six years ago. At that time, there were a lot of "Private Property" signs on each side of the road, so to explore the roadbed might require permission from the locals. Dick, you might notice a few changes since your visit in '47.
