The Tender Trucks are just heavier versions, there are difference's though... A C&T Passenger Car Truck sitting alone has its springs under tension all the time under the Bolster.. where-as tender truck springs don't have tension under the bolster until the actual weight of the tender is added, they do have tension from the weight of the actual bolster, but nothing like a Passenger car. On C&T Passenger Trucks, we have to compress the spring to remove it from the truck first before removing the bolster, where-as the Tender Truck springs can be removed after the Bolster is taken off the springs.. and the Passenger car springs are complete, the tender springs come apart into 6 piece's. The Tender Trucks also have special bolts with rings where Safety Chains are attached and bolted to the actual tender.. as far as braking and such, the rods and rigging hook up the same... I would say they are just Heavier Versions and another thing, thanks to plates added above or below the journal Boxes.. we can also raise or lower the height of the Bolster to lift or lower the Tender and this comes in handy when you have to match the height of a rebuilt tender and a rebuilt Locomotive. I will probably think of a few more things later... and other locomotives had different versions and such.
