The staff of the Strasburg Rail Road would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came to us this year with all of the projects that make this job so interesting, and to wish everyone happy holidays as well as a happy and safe 2005.
This photo was taken by Dave Boyer on December 7th, 2003. This was the third day of our three day December Thomas event and shows #90 running west toward Esbenshade’s crossing, pulling the 3:00 o’clock regular train through blowing and drifting snow. It had snowed the previous two days, the line had been plowed and flanged with our Russell that morning, and the last train over this spot was only twenty minutes before, but you’d never know it by the depth of snow over the rails. That weekend was one of those times when our steam railroading accomplishments are more fun looking back than they were at the time, but the adventure usually makes it worth the trouble. We’ll see you next year.
