In Doris Osterwald's "Cinders & Smoke", the place is identified as Granite Point (MP 468.7), and the creek below is now known as Elbert Creek.
Erick Nelson's research has turned up a 1927 revision of the 1919 Valuation Sheet that shows the creek at that location to be Beaver Creek. So there is definitely something to it.
We had hoped someone might know when the creek was renamed. I believe there is at least one other Beaver Creek in Colorado.
I am curious about this because until this came up, I had never heard that place called Beaver Creek or Canyon, and Erick, who works for the D&S hadn't either. Also, one of the long timers on the line, a 42 year veteran, had not heard that either.
If anyone knows anything about this, please let us know.
