USA 3000 appears to be a diesel version of the MacArthur 2-8-2 36" to 42" variable gauge steam loks used during WW2 and later in India, SE Asia, and East Africa. They would have about the same pulling power. The first order of MacArthurs built by ALCO in 42" gauge were also USA 3000- thru 3029.
