Robert,
There were four or five coaches that received the bay window for Chili Line Service to Santa Fe.
It was put there so the conductor could look out and see the train. Since they did not use a caboose on the Chili Mixed Train this was the inexpensive alternative the D&RGW came up with.
Other coaches that I have seen photos with the Bay Window: 280, 284, 285, 306 & 320. There might even be more than that.
