Mike, I do not know the exact numbers. There were several carmen, machinists, boilermakers and labors around. I will have to do a little research and get back to you. I think Felix Lucero would remember. He ended up working in Durango when Alamosa operations shut down but is back in Alamosa now, retired. Some of the other retired guys at Alamosa may know. Also I see Hubert Meek once in a while so I can get back to you.
As far as the last locomotives worked on at Alamosa, the 473 would qualify as would the 481 but don't forget some work was done on the equipment that went to the states of New Mexico and Colorado. Not rebuilds by any means but the engines had to be made ready to roll to Antonito. in 1971.
