As of now, this is my list of "lost" 36" gage Crowns. Anyone know where they are today?
1) Carowinds #1 (Charlotte, NC) built on Porter 2-6-2 chassis but with Crown boiler, domes, cab, tender, headlight. The smokebox door was Porter. That railroad only ran 1972 to 1975.
2) Carowinds #2, a standard Crown 4-4-0 with balloon stack, painted royal blue. There is a possibility that this is the engine at Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch.
3) Six Flags St.Louis #5. 4-4-0 almost identical to Carowinds #2, except painted apple green. Ran from 1971 to 198??? at SFSL. Five coaches and caboose. This also might be the Neverland engine. SFSL still runs their other Crown (#6).
4) Legend City (Phoenix, AZ) #1. A very early (1962?) Crown 4-4-0, two coaches and caboose. Thought to have been sold in the 1980's to the El Paso, TX area.
5) Pioneer and Western RR #3. Another very early Crown 4-4-0. I don't even know where the P&W was. Does anyone else know?
Mike Thiedeman reports that a couple of Crowns were spotted in Vermont several years back. The Neverland engine was bought from Vermont. Any New Englanders with leads?
