Jack-
The South Pacific Coast never ran within hundreds of miles from San Luis Obispo; you're probably thinking of the Pacific Coast Railway.
Coincidentally, this is the name of a new 3' railway being built by Rob Rossi near SLO, a real estate developer. His equipment includes the Vulcan (ex-Lehigh Stone #600 I believe) and the "Melodia", a former 0-6-2T rebuilt by Crown in the early 70s or so into a 2-6-2 tender engine (the running gear is still original 1897 Porter). Both locomotives spent their careers, since rebuilding, in amusement park service; the Vulcan at Wild World in Largo, Maryland (now running ex-Opryland "Beatrice" in diesel bastardized form). Bill Norred got both locomotives from the George Roose collection (Roose ran the concession in Largo I believe) and had them restored by Shop Services. I saw a picture of the "Melodia" getting rebuilt in Iowa; rumors of conversion back to an 0-6-2 or 2-6-2T were floating around for awhile.
The line is also home to four ex-Disneyland RR "Retlaw One" coaches, and the FI de CA car 'Cuscatlan' I understand. I'm sure there's more.
Pictures of the equipment can be found at my Norred article; the Vulcan was at one time operating at the Stuhr Museum (Nebraska Midland Railway) in Grand Island, Nebraska under lease, and was also used in the 'Dr. Quinn' TV show. Also a shot of the Vulcan doubleheading with ex-WP&Y (now back there, too) #69.
Wait a little bit longer and I'm sure you'll get some more throrough information on the operation and its plans. Currently 2 miles of track, 5 more planned with more 'stuff'.
