If I remember correctly, #40 was purchased in 1968 and made its way out of El Savador and Guatamala at that time. It made it to the US-Mexico border and was halted there due to political unrest, in the form of US officials closing the border. By 1972, she was able to continue her trip north, and operated at Central City until being moved to the Georgetown Loop in 1978, where she joined her sister #44.
I may be a bit off on these dates, but they are fairly close.
