I received this e-mail from the park trains group.
Maybe SV or C&TS or EBT could use the concept. It is really no different than the buy-a-brick in Chama.
---------------------------------------
Hello All
I would like to share with you an idea that has paid off for the
Riverside & Great Northern in Wisconsin Dells. This is a program you
might look at. We started a program called Buy-A-Tie. For $100, we will
place you name on a plastic tie. During the last three months, we have
raised 10% of the project total. The thing that to me is the most
exciting is a good percentage are tie purchase from customers. This is
a source of funds that was not there to us in the past. Below is the
text I used in the flyers.
By the way, if your group would like to make a $100 donation for this
program, I would be happy to help you.
--------------------
Riverside & Great Northern Railway is undertaking a $50,000 capital
campaign to upgrade our roadbed. Key to this project is the Buy a Tie
program, where our goal is to replace 6,000 wooden railroad ties with
new high-strength plastic ties that have a life span of over 50 years.
For $100 donation, your name will be engraved in a tie used in the
roadbed rehabilitation.
Make a lasting mark and preserve railroad history in the process.
Makes a great gift.
Contact Tom Fleming at (608) 712-5662 or at n9szf@charter.net to get
yours today.
