Kim mentioned this on stack talk also last week, and she confirmed the charter prices of $10K per day. Glad we did our stuff in 1997, at least where price is concerned. Simple math tells you that a 40 person charter will cost over $250.00, and that just covers the train fee, without incidentals like advertising, and other expenses the sponsor has. That accounts for all the rider cars on the TUT trips....pack em in so a decent profit can be made.
For that price I can charter a 4-8-4 and operate at 50 MPH if I wish to do so, on either freight or Passenger trains.
