I wasn't able to stick around to see the very last GLRR trains today. I needed to be back at DIA in time for my flight back to Atlanta, so I was only able to stick around long enough to see the locomotives being prepped and to see the first two trains of the day come down the hill.
Having to make a flight was probably a good thing, since it spared me from seeing the equipment put away for good and the crew dispersed. Instead, my final memory of the GLRR was watching Howard take #40 on the extra train out of the loading area and up over the bridge.... a positive final image of the GLRR.
Of course, since I left plenty of time to get to DIA, there was no traffic, no delays, only a short wait for the shuttle at the rental car dropoff, and only a 10 minute wait at the TSA lines.... so I could've easily stayed at the loop for another hour and still easily made my flight. Instead, I killed time at DIA getting some of my digital snapshots ready for upload.
Sigh. I wish I didn't need to use the past tense to caption these snapshots.
