Re: 1970s pics

I have shots in 1969(first year no freights ran), plus 1971, the first couple of weeks of C&TS operation. We always made it a point to nose around Alamosa. On one visit, we squeezed inside the locked doors and took some images, and marveled at seeing 493, which was the last engine we saw in steam in 1968. Also the 481 was in the shop looking real nice as I recall. Dead line outside was a mish-mash of locos and tenders.
One day will get someone to put images on a disk and maybe post some, but for now they remain in slide trays. The John West shots are hard to beat though, as he was shooting in the yard during regular operations, and got the "Real" good days, before the yard fell on hard times. One of my favorite scenes in our video(shot by my dad), was the 1954 shot of 487 on the turntable followed by servicing shots, and taking coal.
I also have some old slides from the 1968 visit where we chased freights for 3 days. Again something I hope to put on a disk or something someday. Not "West" quality, but better than nothing, for a teenager at the time.
