Is this part of the edge C&TS has in authenticity over the Durango operation? I don't remember anything like this going on in the D&RGW days. It seems that out of necessity, both operations, as well as tourist lines in general, need to earn as much money from what ever source is possible, however tacky or unauthentic that may be. All the D&RGW offered for sale to its passengers back in the mid-50s when I first rode to Silverton was bottled soft drinks and candy bars. The rest was real railroad, though I remember the concession people on SP's Coast Daylight going through the train selling Cactus Candy and SP decks of cards during that same time period.
