Yes indeed the old Catskills train has been for sale for quite a few years now. I remember the Great America train and was there the last season; the green one was sold for $10,000 dissasembled and left the property 2 years after the railroad shut down. Those two locomotives from Custom Fabricators were at one point steam; bastardized by Custom Locomotive to diesel. As a steamer of course it was a simple, homely 0-4-0T; so I understand. They did this to the four Great America engines (two for each park, the one in Gurnee IL became Six Flags), and one in Laughlin, Nevada. Their prototype at Opryland in Nashville, TN was built from the remains of a diesel 'critter' or something. The guys name who ran this company was I believe Ed Romaine. They were, I think, in Johnson City, TN which is in the middle of ET&WNC territory. "Rachel" ran at Doe River Gorge not far from that area; with the Custom Fabricators 'deezul'. The original 0-4-0Ts that they converted were acquired from somewhere in South America, or Africa, I read about it somewhere. I've been trying to get enough 'stuff' to do an article on CF, but not much luck yet. A former Keystone Sales Manager gave me much of the information on Custom when I was doing the Keystone article.
Let's just hope CHS doesn't do this with the #9, #74, or another historic locomotive...
