You may well be right. All I have is the notes for every scene on the approx 53 minutes worth of 16mm films the man shot over a 10 year span. The last year says August 1967, and that is the only year he shows trains on the balloon loop in Durango yard. Doesn't show other structures per se, so I am not worried about stuff after that date.
This is why I ask the questions, so that I can (1)find out to go with the films, and (2) to see if the info I am handed is correct. Supposedly the photographer went by his slides for many of the dates, as well as his wife and memory.
His 1966 material doesn't have anything in Durango yard, but does have some freight action, whereby there is no freight action in the 1967 footage. I found that kinda curious, considering the other years had freight action. However, in 1967 and 1968 activity was sparse to say the least, and if in fact his footage was 1968, he could well have missed one of the last runs, I don't know. I think he is over in China at the moment, so I need to await his return. He freely admits his memory is not what it used to be(and whose is, except for Crayuft perhaps).
Working with this old material is somewhat of a quest to get as much correct as possible. I would hate to be changing history in some regard, by stating wrong information. Since I wasn't there, I am tempted to run music behind it and only use some narrative to set-up each year.
I have already found one shot that I know was out of order. He had a shot at Ignacio(I think the location was correctly marked), but he had it as the first scene, of a train going WB from Arboles toward Durango. I moved it west of Allison. First I thought it was a different train, but it was the same doubleheader, and must have been spliced wrong on the reel.
I really need to have a couple of experts look at this stuff to doublecheck our work. There could be a shot out of order between Chama and Durango and I would not catch it. On the other hand from the activity around here, I doubt all that many folks really care.
