Caboose 0576 Leaves Silverton

The restoration of Salida's caboose 0576 is complete and it was taken by semi-truck today to Durango. On Friday, the truck will take it over Wolff Creek Pass to Salida. It was a fast and efficient loading with the sounds of a train in town with business car B-7 on the tail end. My business partner, Loren Lew, who did most of the work, watched as the car was loaded and the two guys doing the work didn't waste any time in driving up US 550 to Molas Pass and Durango. The work started with the trucks last June as they were converted to leaf springs to final painting and lettering this Spring as work was completed using the Silverton Northern engine house.
