C-18s have slightly larger drivers than the C-19s. 38" vs 36-3/4". Who knows why. As Mark said (which is what I told him was my theory.) The main rods are likely the major factor. A loaded down C-19 even with well adjusted shoes and wedges will waddle up grade and ring her own bell. 315 loaded down will hunt/swim side to side bouncing off the rails.
The rocking or waddling of a C-19 probably messes with the loading on the drivers and would then affect the adhesion.
