It would have been interesting to explore the shops and engine facilities in more detail, but the northbound mixed train was arriving, and the southbound mixed was getting ready to depart.





I exchanged the still camera for the movie camera as the southbound mixed pulled in. The southbound mixed was also double headed, with a Baldwin as road engine and a Henschel as helper. The Henschel on the adjacent track will take the train to Esquel. It is the same engine that had brought the freight to El Maiten the day before



Before the two engines head to the engine facilities, they will switch out a number of loads to reduce the train tonnage for the single engine. Several box cars and two flat cars with tarped loads will be set out. A gondola with horses and two box cars will remain with the express cars, the dining car and the passenger cars.
