Re: Did anything larger than a K-27 ever run on the RGS?

A k27 was the largest. When the track was redone in the mid-20's to allow them, North of Rico was rated for a K27, and supposedly south of Rico for K28's, although no K28 sightings are known to have occurred. Indeed the C-21s were quickly found to be to rigid, and were not tried for very long. When Victor Miller became receiver, in either 1929 or 30, the RGS quickly stopped leasing all power from the D&RGW, so even the K-27s left for close to 10 years. After Miller's leaving, the K27's returned, but by then the roadbed south of Rico was in pretty poor shape, and the last few years K27's weren't used unless the roadbed was dry, and things like the 20 used in poor conditions.
