Quite a few years ago, a late friend of mine Barc. Robinson visited the Sumpter Valley with me. I remember that he said that in his view a steam locomotive was best photographed in b&w. He gave me copies of the b&w photos that he took which I eventually donated to the SVRR Archive. Here is #19. I think he got a cab ride that day. #19 is by all accounts a well proportioned steam locomotive that appeals to the railroad photographer. I have never understood however, why her head light looks to be pointing up just a bit. It works fine at night, so obviously the angle is not an issue.
