At one point, the D&RGW delivered a string of equipment in which the first-out, west end piece was 487 - with her pilot plow. 483 came into Antonito facing east and could not couple into 487 because of the plow. Back in the train was a flat car loaded with 488's plow and long-shank coupler. They put the long coupler into 483's front pocket so that 483 couple drag the train backwards to Lava where 483 could turn. At this time there was no trackage in Antonito except for the mainline. Somewhere I have seen a shot of 483 running tank first, coupled to 487, headed west.
