I clicked on the Denver Public Library link for a higher-resolution view.

Note the shiny star (polished brass?) below the headlight, the "D" on the side of the sand dome (for D.S.P. & P.) and the single telegraph line on the poles.

The boxcar has a light-colored band - maybe canvas? - just below the roof eves. What is this?
