The D&RGW Authority for Expenditure for 0505 in 1922 says destroyed. Sometimes the Rio Grande would build a new car using the scrapped or destroyed car number, sometimes using the metal parts salvaged from the burned car. One of the D&RG narrow gauge flangers went down the side of a mountain on the Floresta branch. The D&RG decided it was too badly damaged and too difficult to recover, so they built a new one using the old number. Rio Grande crew men told the flanger body was still there. I tried to find it in 1975, but rattlesnakes kept me away.
